Physiotherapy experience

I have 5 years of experience as a HCPC-registered, Chartered Physiotherapist. I have a split role, supporting patients with chronic pain and working with individuals following injury and surgery to recover and work towards their goals. In my roles, I work with patients in 1:1 and group settings, adapting and modifying exercises to meet individual needs and goals whilst ensuring correct technique and flow of the class.

Coaching experience

I have gained extensive coaching experience over the last 13 years in various sports, including swimming, trampolining, Olympic weightlifting, and gymnastics.

Through my background as a Physiotherapist and coach, I enjoy working with people of varied abilities, supporting them to work towards their personal goals. I’m able to support individuals recovering from injury or surgery, as well as those trying to reduce the risk of injuries returning in the future, and trying to live well.

I'm a qualified Level 3 APPI Matwork Pilates Instructor, and look forward to working with you.

Beyond Movement Pilates with Jaydee

Alongside my physiotherapy background, I have a personal love for strength training. Clinical knowledge and athletic experience shape the way I teach: practical, adaptable, and focused on helping you move with confidence.

I’m passionate about supporting people in tailoring exercises to their abilities, celebrating progress, and building strength through consistency. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing clients grow, improve, and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.

My goal is to make Pilates accessible, enjoyable, and effective for everyone, whatever your starting point and whatever your goals. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing ongoing niggles or pain, or looking to complement your strength training, Pilates offers a way to move that supports your whole body.

In my classes, technique comes first. Clear cueing and focused movement help you engage the right muscles, making even simple exercises more challenging, more effective, and surprisingly rewarding. This mindful approach helps to improve body awareness, coordination and confidence whilst also leaving you feeling relaxed after the session.

My aim is simple: everyone leaves feeling better than when they arrived, having had a positive, empowering movement experience.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of low‑impact exercise that focuses on controlled movement, body awareness, and efficient, balanced strength. Mat‑based Pilates uses a combination of a supportive mat and small equipment to add challenge, improve technique, and help you move with precision.

Pilates was originally developed by Joseph Pilates after World War I as a method of rehabilitation for injured soldiers. He used springs and straps attached to hospital beds to help patients rebuild strength, the early inspiration for today’s reformer machines. His work later evolved into classical Pilates, widely adopted by dancers and athletes to enhance performance and prevent injury.

Today, Pilates has been further adapted by APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) to make the method accessible, safe, and effective for people of all levels from complete beginners to those managing pain or returning to exercise.

As a physiotherapist trained with APPI, I value their evidence‑based approach, high‑quality teaching, and the structured levels within each exercise. This ensures every client can work at the right level for their body, progressing safely and confidently.

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates offers a wide range of physical and mental benefits, making it an ideal practice for anyone looking to move better, feel stronger, and support long‑term health.

  • Pilates gently improves flexibility by lengthening tight muscles and increasing joint range of motion. This helps reduce stiffness, ease everyday movement, and support better posture.
  • Pilates builds full‑body strength using controlled, low‑impact movements. It targets both the major muscle groups and the smaller stabilisers that are often missed in traditional training.
  • A strong, responsive core supports your spine, improves balance, and enhances performance in other sports. Pilates teaches you how to engage your core effectively.
  • By improving coordination, stability, and body awareness, Pilates helps you move with confidence. Better balance reduces the risk of falls and supports efficient movement patterns.
  • The mindful, controlled nature of Pilates encourages you to slow down, focus on your breath, and release tension. Many people leave class feeling calmer, clearer, and more grounded.

Together, these benefits create a strong foundation for everyday life, sport, and rehabilitation- helping you move with ease, strength, and confidence.

How does Pilates complement other sports and rehab?

Pilates is an excellent way to enhance performance in other sports and support long‑term rehabilitation. By building a strong, responsive core and improving mobility, Pilates helps weightlifters brace more effectively, maintain good form, and stay strong under heavy loads.

Pilates also targets the smaller stabilising muscles that are often missed in traditional training. Strengthening these deeper muscles supports joint control, improves movement efficiency, and reduces the risk of future injuries. For those recovering from previous injuries, this focused approach helps rebuild strength safely and restore confidence in movement.

Whatever your sport, whether you’re lifting, running, or returning from rehab, Pilates provides the foundation your body needs to move well and perform at its best.
